Where the game began

Quinn made the first version in second grade.

During a Girl Scout troop activity, Quinn decided to make a game of her own. She was playing a lot of Scrabble and Sleeping Queens, and wondered what might happen if a word-building challenge met a little storybook magic.

What started as an afternoon idea became hours of testing, thinking, hand-drawing, rebuilding, and playing again. She brought the first version to her Girl Scout friends and family, then kept refining it through dozens of games.

That homemade deck became the beginning of Quill & Spell: a game for anyone who loves words, writing, imagination, and a good challenge.

A game made by Quinn, shared by the Pennymores.

How it works

Write your way to 100.

Build a three-letter-or-more word from your hand. Play an author to claim a face-down quill. Then pair them: your letters become a spell, and your quill amplifies its power.

01

Draw

Fill your hand with letters, authors, and mischievous action cards.

02

Claim

Play an author—or follow a story card—to reveal a quill.

03

Cast

Make a word, lock it to your quill, and score before the next twist.

Two ways to play

Easy to enter. Rich enough to grow with you.

01

Family mode

Use any quill with any valid word. Add the letter points and the quill multiplier, then keep the table moving.

The fastest way to teach the game—and the best place to start.

02

Color-match mode

Every letter carries two color symbols. Match the colors in your word to your quill to unlock its amplification bonus.

More planning. More risk. More satisfying spells.

Meet the deck

Characters, quills, and a little trouble.

Authors meddle. Quills have reputations. Action cards can turn a perfect spell into a plot twist.
